THE CFA was inundated with calls from interested volunteers following the Black Saturday fires and now Toomuc fire brigade is putting out the call for prospective firefighters.
Toomuc CFA has about 15 active members who want others to join their team.
Lisa Hicks, Brigades’ Administration Support Officer for Westernport area, said volunteers were given full training and mentoring as fire crew.
She said all recruits were put though short courses and provided with uniforms.
Brigade training takes place on Wednesdays from 7.30pm until 9.30pm and Sunday between 9.30am to 11.30am.
An information day for prospective volunteers will be held this Sunday (14 June).
Toomuc Brigade captain John Ferrari urged residents to come along.
“CFA is based on community involvement and gains its strength from the commitment of local people,” he said.
“The time commitment will depend on your availability. We have a weekly training session, hold a monthly meeting and you attend any incidents that occur.
“Our brigade would welcome any new members, especially those that would be available to attend incidents during the day.”
