FIREFIGHTERS rescued an elderly woman from a smoke-filled unit in Noble Park last week.

About 11.10am on 13 January, residents on Ellendale Road called CFA after they heard a smoke alarm sounding from a neighbour’s house.

Firefighters forced open a front sliding window of the home, searched the building and found an elderly woman inside who had collapsed.

She was placed in a lounge chair, removed from the house and treated by paramedics.

A pot left on the stove was the cause of the incident. There was no structural damage to the unit.
